Licence Bureau signs up own staff for driver eyecare

WELL known for its service checking employees’ validity to drive, Licence Bureau has now signed up to driver eyecare eVouchers for its own staff, to help ensure they are safe to drive.

Over the last 18 months, Licence Bureau has, as an additional benefit, given in excess of 10,000 Premium Club Vouchers to its clients. These entitle them to a £20 discount in any Specsavers store across the UK. Having seen the benefits of driver eyecare first hand, Licence Bureau has now decided to provide eyecare for its own employees, using Specsavers Corporate Eyecare’s eVoucher system.

The Driver Eyecare eVouchers provides all employees at Licence Bureau with a full eye examination. This checks not only that they have all the essential eyesight requirements for driving, like sight over distance, peripheral vision and the ability to refocus between objects, but also the overall health of the eye. If staff require glasses to drive, these will be provided within the cost of the voucher. If not, they will be able to choose a pair of non-prescription sunglasses.

Malcolm Maycock, managing director of Licence Bureau, says: ‘Licence Bureau is an authorised DVLA licence checking service, set up by ex-police officers and IT experts. We are keen to support the message of the importance of good driver eyesight, and we have found that regular eye examinations is the best way to ensure eyesight is adequate for driving. The eVouchers for Specsavers Corporate Eyecare have been very popular with our clients, they provide good value for money and so it made sense for us to set an example and implement the system ourselves.’

Suzanne Randall, corporate account manager at Specsavers Corporate Eyecare, says: ‘Through their work, Licence Bureau is well aware of the issues of driver safety and the impact this can also have on the employer. We are pleased that they have decided to further our relationship by becoming a client as well as a partner in this vital initiative of promoting driver safety and the importance of being fully fit to drive.’
