Driving Licence Categories

To be able to drive a particular type of vehicle, you need an ‘entitlement’ for that category on your driving licence. Your entitlements may have additional restrictions – check the restriction codes for your driving licence.

How long endorsements stay on your driving licence?

An endorsement must stay on your driving licence for at least 4 years from either the date of conviction or the date of the offence.

Endorsement codes and penalty points

Each endorsement has a special code and is given ‘penalty points’ on a scale from 1 to 11. You get more points for more serious offences. The table shows the offence codes that can be put on your driving licence.

Licence Bureau are running two of Brake’s hard hitting 2Young2Die workshops at Kings Langley secondary school on the 19th and 21st November during Road Safety Week. We will raise awareness surrounding the effects of driving distractions to 160  6th formers.
