Licence Bureau selected by DriveTech in new partner agreement for ‘licence checking only’ customers

Following a strategic review, DriveTech, a leading provider of UK & international driver training solutions, will no longer offer licence checking as a standalone service to new or existing customers.

It concluded that ‘licence-check only’ customers are better served by a dedicated licence check provider.

Licence Bureau has been selected by DriveTech as its official ‘licence check only’ partner after a thorough review of sector providers in the UK. Licence Bureau’s comprehensive compliance proposition, including its market-leading online portal, and reputation as a leading supplier gained over 16 years working in the sector were key reasons it was chosen as DriveTech’s preferred partner.

Commenting on this announcement Charlie Norman, DriveTech’s managing director said: “This is no way an indication of our intention to withdraw from this marketplace. In fact, we are placing strategic focus on ensuring we add value in this sector where we believe our portfolio of services are second to none.

“This decision has been taken to better focus on developing our driver training services and risk management business and provide scope to further enhance our range of products and services that help customers to reduce road risk, save money and protect their corporate reputation.

“We were very impressed at our new partner Licence Bureau’s knowledge, expertise and deep-rooted commitment to supporting companies in optimising their vehicle and licence compliance. We look forward to a successful working relationship. Our core strength is in providing a range of services including driver risk assessment, driver e-learning and on-road training interventions alongside licence checking as part of a holistic, full-service provision,” he added.

This decision doesn’t affect DriveTech customers who have a more integrated road risk strategy and a commitment to a full duty of care. DriveTech is committed to further building its reputation in this sector in the future and will continue to offer licence-checking to ‘portfolio’ customers.

DriveTech has commenced notifying its driver licence checking only customers of this decision, as part of a practical notice period, and is encouraging current ‘licence check only’ clients to transfer this service provision to Licence Bureau.

Malcolm Maycock, Licence Bureau’s managing director commented: “DriveTech and its parent AA have a first-class reputation in the corporate sector, and we are proud that DriveTech has chosen us as its official ‘licence check only’ provider.

“Both companies have a very similar ethos and values when it comes to reducing fleet risk and improving road safety, and our team look forward to providing a first-class service to these customers. This announcement reinforces Licence Bureau as the UK’s largest licence check provider completing nearly 600,000 licence checks annually,” he added.

The mutually beneficial partnership will also see Licence Bureau recommend DriveTech driver training solutions to its customer base.
