Do your employees uses their own vehicles (Grey fleet)

Home > News > Do your employees uses their own vehicles (Grey fleet)

The term “Grey fleet” also known as owner driver vehicles, covers any vehicle which is used for company work related journeys when that vehicle is not owned or leased by the company.

So Grey fleet is applicable to any company whose employees use their own vehicles for work related travel.

Fleet and business managers in many companies are unaware of how many grey fleet vehicles they are responsible for. Estimated grey fleet vehicles in the UK could be as many as 15 Million or more.

For companies they carry a risk if the driver does not have the correct business insurance or the vehicle does not have an MOT (is roadworthy) or is taxed.

When a work related road incident occurs an employer will be asked to show proof of having looked to minimise any risks associated with the use of the grey fleet vehicle, following on from the Health and Safety at Work Act (1974) which looks at the wellbeing of employees when at work.

Licence Bureau’s Owner Driver/Grey Fleet service is used by hundreds of our clients and can help you minimise risk, moreover keeping your employees and the general public safer.
