  • Licence Bureau begins ’12 Driver Distractions of Christmas’ social media safety campaign
  • Licence Bureau the licence checking and compliance company and Skanska hosted road safety workshops at Kings Langley School and The Astley Cooper School
  • Brake’s annual Road Safety Week theme encouraged all road users to ‘Make the Brake Pledge’

Licence Bureau and construction and development company, Skanska, have delivered a week of successful and engaging road safety workshops in the Dacorum area, as part of Brake’s annual Road Safety Week from 21-27 November.

As part of the charity’s annual week of raising road safety awareness in local communities across the UK, the licence checking and compliance company partnered with Skanska to run interactive sessions to sixth form students at Kings Langley School and The Astley Cooper School.

Running in tandem with Brake’s annual road safety theme, which focused on ‘Making the Pledge’ to be Slow, Sober, Secure, Silent, Sharp and Sustainable, road safety professionals from Licence Bureau and Skanska reiterated the importance of remaining focused behind the wheel, using real-life examples to demonstrate the potential consequences of driving while distracted.

The sessions also looked at educating the students on general best-practice for navigating the UK’s roads, whether this is while driving, on foot or cycling educating, which will prove invaluable as many of Dacorum’s 16-18-year-olds get behind the wheel for the first time.

Janis Wright, PSHE and Wellbeing Administrator at Kings Langley School, commented; “It was a real pleasure to have Licence Bureau and Skanska’s road safety workshops at Kings Langley once again. Judging by the feedback from our sixth form students, their messages on the dangers of driving while distracted through interactive presentations and brainstorms resonated fully.”

As part of its wider commitment to improving road safety, Hemel Hempstead-based Licence Bureau has started its own ’12 Days of Christmas’ campaign with Brake from December 8-23, with every day featuring an image dedicated to a different distraction behind the wheel, through its social media channels.

Each image will cover a different theme, with Licence Bureau highlighting what’s causing each distraction behind the wheel, and which one of Brake’s six pledges should be applied.

Malcolm Maycock, Managing Director of Licence Bureau, adds; “As an extension of Brake’s tremendous work to highlight the importance of road safety throughout the year, it’s been extremely eye-opening to interact with another group of sixth form students in the local area. We hope our additional campaign over Christmas, which is always an impressionable time of year, will provide an instant visual impact of what not to do when behind the wheel.”
