Licence Bureau has partnered with Arriva London South to provide driver licence checking, and compliance solutions for the bus operator’s team of 1,500 drivers.

The Hemel Hempstead-based compliance management company has rolled out its award-winning Compliance Managed Services (CMS) portal to Arriva London South, who operate drivers from garages in Brixton, Croydon, Norwood and Thornton Heath.

The drivers will have their licences checked twice yearly, allowing operational managers to monitor whether there are any changes to a driver’s entitlement to drive. This will prove crucial for ensuring drivers and the millions of passengers they transport across London remain safe.

The CMS alerts management to critical risk factors such as drivers holding an invalid licence with particular emphasis on their Category D entitlement, which has proved a challenge with previous processes.

Licence Bureau are also developing bespoke reports through the CMS, to be used for a twice yearly audit internally at Arriva London South, allowing them to adhere to Duty of Care obligations.

Arriva London South is part of Arriva London, one of the largest bus operators in the capital. They provide 17% of London’s bus services that operate 98 routes under contract to Transport for London (TfL).

“Having over 1,500 drivers operating daily poses some unique challenges for ensuring they remain compliant. Our CMS enables Arriva London South to manage their drivers, allowing them to focus on the job at hand – transporting their passengers across the capital,” said Malcolm Maycock, Managing Director at Licence Bureau.

“Licence Bureau’s service and portal delivers to our exact requirements. Their unique alerts system flags any changes in our drivers’ entitlement to drive, providing our operational managers with accurate and timely compliance data. This, combined with their extremely professional and helpful support team, provides an invaluable service with a partnership approach to the challenges linked to managing a large driver workforce,” added Nick Bland, General Manager at Arriva London South.
